IT infrastructures and strategies vary. With manubes, there are different options for deployment and operation of the platform.
Deployment options with manubes
In modern production environments, it is essential to be able to adapt software flexibly to the respective IT strategies and infrastructures. With manubes, we offer a powerful platform for production management, which by default is operated as a cloud solution with edge computing. This mode of operation brings numerous advantages, such as high scalability, minimal maintenance, and centralized management.
In addition, manubes can also be used in a hybrid model with local data storage or entirely on-premise.
In this article, we present the three options and show how manubes can be optimally integrated into existing environments.
manubes in the cloud with edge components for system integration
By default, the manubes platform is operated within a Microsoft Azure-based cloud infrastructure. The connection to machines, sensors, and PLCs is established via local edge components, which run as Docker containers or Windows services.
These edge instances enable local workflow execution, local data buffering, and the translation of industrial protocols (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT) to the cloud.

Advantages
- Rapid scalability through centralized resource management
- Minimal on-site maintenance effort
- Direct integration with cloud services (e.g. AI services, business intelligence)
- Easy rollout across multiple locations
Hybrid operation with local data storage
In the hybrid operating model, the application continues to run in the cloud, but data is stored locally via an on-site MongoDB database or in a private cloud.
This setup provides an ideal balance between the convenience of the cloud and local data control. The hybrid model also utilizes edge instances to write machine and process data into the local MongoDB.

Advantages
- Data sovereignty remains with the customer
- Cost optimization for large volumes of data
- Use of the cloud for visualization, control, and management
- Compliant with data protection requirements in many industries
On-premise deployment and operation
In the on-premise model, manubes is operated entirely locally on the company’s own infrastructure. The complete platform – including the application, database, and background services – runs in isolated Docker containers on the customer’s servers.
There is no access to cloud services. The company’s own IT infrastructure can be tailored individually to specific requirements (Kubernetes, Portainer, Docker hosts, etc.).

Advantages
- Full control over infrastructure and data
- No internet access required
- Maximum adaptability to existing IT policies
